‘Embroidery Flowers’ Clear Spellbinders Stamp Set from Cardmaker II Stamp Collection

Hi all, welcome to another blog post as a Guest for Spellbinders for their Cardmaker II Stamp collection.

One thing I love to do is create my own pattern paper by repeat stamping for the background panel. Sometimes I love playing with a monochromatic colour scheme and for today I have used the Catherine Pooler Pixie Dust ink with an added touch of ink blending around the edges to add some depth.

I have die cut the ovals with Fancy Edged & Elegant Ovals dies with white cardstock. For the image, I have stamped with the Pixie Dust ink and used the rock n roll method and added a little Royal Treatment ink around the edges. To finish the card off I have embellished with some lavender rhinestones.

A little more about this stampset …. GRAB YOURS HERE

Embroidery Flowers Clear Stamp Set is part of the Cardmaker II Stamp Collection. The set has 10 clear Photopolymer stamps. They are designed to work with an acrylic block and made in the U.S.A. ‘New Start’ Clear Spellbinders Stamp Set from Cardmaker II Stamp Collection

Hi all, welcome to my very first blog posts as a Guest for Spellbinders for their Cardmaker II Stamp collection.

Today, I have played with the New Start stampset and boy oh boy this is such a pretty and heart-felt stampset. The sentiments in this stampet were quite fitting for this point of my life as I make cards for end-of-year graduates. To fill you in, my son Saxon just graduated Grade 12 and is now moving forward with his adult life. What a whirlwind of a week it has been for our family. I look forward to the mark he makes in this world whether it is going to University / College or just being a good model citizen.

Now onto my card – sorry for the side track…..

I couldn’t help myself and I just had to heat emboss these delicate butterflies with WOW! Embossing Powder Teal Luster. I also added some embossing glitter behind the enmbossing folder cuts with Catherine Pooler ‘Uptown’ embossing glitter. I love the peek-a-boo effect these folders give.

Who doesn’t love a little ink blending right? I have mixed two colour inks from Catherine Pooler to get this blend – Cover Blue & Serene to the bottom left of the dry embossed panel. I kept this card rather simple. What do you think?

A little more about this stampset …. GRAB YOURS HERE

New Start Clear Stamp Set is part of the Cardmaker II Stamp Collection. There are eight clear Photopolymer stamps in the set. Images include three different types of butterflies and five encouraging sentiments. They are designed to work with an acrylic block and made in the U.S.A.

Catherine Pooler Ink Reveal has started…..

Have you heard the news? Catherine Pooler Designs is releasing 6 new ink colours on Wednesday, 13th October 2021.

These colours are part of the Party Collection and today reveals Flame and Glitz. Flame is a dark orange shade that adds a feeling of warmth, light and a spark of excitement. Glitz is a deep, warm yellow that will bring the golden hues.

If you are new to the Catherine Pooler Designs ink you can click HERE to learn more about them and how they work.

Some of my favourite things about her inks are how easy it is to stamp with. Catherine Pooler inks delivers solid, crisp images every time with minimal effort. Their inks are also water reactive (as show in the tag below) which is great for ink smooshing ink blending and getting those cool little water splotches look too.

I have ink blended today card tag with the two colours to show you how well they compliment each other. I have heat embossed a recently released stampset ‘Life is Brew-tiful’ which I have used in a previous blog post.

***Affiliate Links to the new ink below. Please note these will not go live in the shop until 13th October 2021 at 9.00 am EST***

Now onto my card. I recently purchased this stampset from Catherine Pooler Designs which I was super excited to break out for today. This stampset is called Life is Brew-tiful. I stamped the images with Versafine Onxy Black ink and heat embossed with clear gloss. I used the pigment ink from my Karin Markers and picked it up with an aqua brush.

I then ink blended the tag die cut with Catherine Pooler Polished ink with the Catherine Pooler large ink blending brush with a really light hand in circular motions.

For the card front panel I cut white cardstock up on an angle and ink blended with the Mint to Be ink and adhere down on a white top folding card front.

For the bottom half of the card front I used Kraft cardstock. To add some detail on the card front I heat embossed a strip of white cardstock with the ‘Made you Blush’ embossing glitter from the WOW! Embossing Powder Pink-a-licious Trio.

For the embellishments I have used sequins and teal twine.

Peachy Christmas – Adorning Doves Stampset

For today’s card I have added a little twist to the card front by cutting a small angle off to feature what is inside the card.

I have stamped the foliage with the Clay Mask ink on the left hand side of the card front as well as the dove which I then die cut out and place on the inside of the card. With the same ink I ink blended a panel for the inside card and a die cut circle as elements. Die cut the Round of Merry die 3 times and for the top panel I pressed into the Samba ink. To make it look shiny I added some glossy accents and set aside to dry.

Catherine Pooler Designs ‘This Christmas’ Release – Adorning Doves Card

Hi all, so for today’s card I am practicing my ink blending. I started with the first ink layer with Pixie Dust ink and slowly worked around the edges with the Catherine Pooler ink blending brushes on white card stock. I made sure to stop and leave some of the bottom card stock panel blank to look like I faded the ink out. For the second layer, I have added Flirty Fuchsia ink to add some depth to the first inked layer. I then stamped the leaves with Sugared almond ink towards the top of the card. For the centre elements of the card I stamped with the adorning doves stamp set. For the dove image, I have stamped with the Flirty Fuchsia ink plus added some ink blending for a little bit of extra colour. The rest of the elements and sentiment I have stamped with Midnight ink. To finish the card off I adhered down some Crater Lake sequins.

It is a fairly simple card and can be easily mass produced. Tell me, do you like making cards that can be easily mass produced or do you like making one off unique cards each and everytime?

Just in case you missed it I have played with the same stampset over on my youtube channel.

Catherine Pooler Designs ‘This Christmas’ Release – Adorning Doves Shaker Card

Can I just say I love love love this release. There is something magical about christmas right? It is my most favourite time of year. I would start setting up now if my family didn’t want me to forget about their birthdays along the way (hehe)

Today, I have played with pinks, I know I know its not traditional Christmas colours, however let me tell you I was exploring with non traditional colours with this release. Between you and me I love doing this most years so by the time I am mass producing with the traditional colours I haven’t felt like I have over done it with the green, red white colours combo. It’s my way to keeping me engaged in my hobby.

So let me get started with my card shall I? I am a big fan of the crater lake sequins. It sits on my desk as a go to. It had been a while since I made a shaker card so I wanted to make something easy, interactive and a little on the pretty side.

To show you my process I have created a youtube tutorial on my process. You actually see how I wasn’t happy with how the card started and by adding the inner layer of the shaker component made my heart sing.

I couldn’t help myself….. I did use my ‘Cocktail Party’ Trios with WOW! Embossing Powder. Amongst using my all tiem favourite Metallic Gold Rich I paired it with my Made You Blush embossing glitter.

My favourite tip when it comes playing with new embossing powders & glitters to make a whole embossed 5 x 7 inch panel. This way I get to see the colour in all its glory. It is then ready for me to die cut or cut down into strips and any other elements. If you haven’t watched me over on my channel yet, you see me show casing this tip frequently. I am all about time saving when it comes to crafting as sometimes all I want to do it colour, focus on stamping or even ink blending. Wht is your favourite crafting hack.

One thing I love creating is DIY glitter card stock by heat embossing whole card stock panels with embossing glitters. I have pre heat embossed with the new Firey Fun embossing glitter from my Pink-a-licious Trios with WOW! Embossing Powder. While I was in a DIY mood I also have made my glitter paste by using ranger transparent gloss paste and the Cooper Fire Sparkles.

Did you know that the Pink-a-licious Trios are available both in the USA & UK stores.

I have also made a tutorial up on my youtube channel on how I made today’s card.

As part of the WOW! Designer Team, WOW! has provided me a code for all my lovely Subscribers to use. So, don’t forget to take the advantage of a crafty 10% off all purchase for both WOW! US and UK by simply using my code: WOWDTJH

Catherine Pooler Birthday Candle Card

Welcome to another card with the fabulous “Make a Wish” stampset. For todays’ card, I have heat embossed the candles with Gold embossing powder on white Catherine Pooler cardstock which I have die cut with the coordinating dies.

For the background panel, I have ink blended using the Catherine Pooler blending tool with the new Clay ink for the first layer. I then placed the so curvy stencil over the top of the ink blended panel and ink blended the Bellini over the top and to darken the edges ever so slightly I used Orange Peel ink. I adhered the ink blended panel over the top of a white cardbase.

TIP: I have left the centre of the ink blended panel to be white by having a lighter hand towards the centre when ink blending.

For the heart die cut element, I have used the stackable heart dies with Kraft Cardstock. To create the window I used two heart dies and cut at the same time which I then adhered down on centre of the ink blended panel.

With Foam strips I placed them behind the candles in the centre bottom the card. I stamped the flames of the candle with Catching Rays ink, die cut out with coordinating dies which I then added some glossy accents to make it look nice and shiny.

To finish the card off I have added a bow twine around the candles to make it look like they have been tied together.

Catherine Pooler Rainbow Party Card

Today, I have another party card for you with an ink blended background. I have ink blended with Grass Skirt, Fiesta Blue, Pucker Up and Catching Rays on a white cardstock panel. I added some water splatters and dried with my heat tool which I have then mounted on a black cardstock on a white cardstock base.

One of my favourite things to do is create my own glitter cardstock panel with embossing glitters. I created my own panel with the Earl Grey embossing glitter from the Pick me Up Trios which I then die cut out with the Party die. I die cut the same party die with the pattern paper and placed that in the DIY glitter cardstock shadow piece. I adhere all the word pieces onto a black cardstock rectangle panel and centred that on the card front.

I used the present image from an older stampset ‘Let’s Party’ which I have coloured in with Karin markers. I added some glossy on a couple of hearts which i foam mounted on the word die cut panel.

To finish the card off I added some crater lake sequins.

Catherine Pooler Masculine Make a Wish Card

I love how versatile the Make a Wish stampset can be utilised. For today, I have made a masculine style card using Tranquil, Juniper Mist and Catching Rays inks with the new stampset.

I stamped with the Scribbled grid background stampset the Juniper Mist over navy cardstock and adhered down on a white tent fold cardbase.

With a stiched circle die I have run that through a die cutting machine and foam mount in the centre of the cardfront.

I have heat embossed the candle sticks with Metallic Silver super fine embossing powder from WOW! Embossing Powder on white cardstock. I then ink blended over the top of the embossed candles with Tranquil ink, die cut them all out and adhered down on the circle die cut. For the candle wick I stamped the flames with catching rays.

For the sentiment I stamped with Juniper mist ink on white cardstock which I then fussy cut out and adhere over the top of the candles to finish the card off.

Catherine Pooler Party Card

Ok so who had the song from the Vengaboys – We like to Party.??? …. I have to admit I played the song over and over when typing this post LOL. Sorry I digress ……

For today’s post I have used the brand new Party Bundle from the Make a Wish release. Who doesn’t like a good staple birthday / party release?

I got my colour pallet from a previously release pattern paper ‘Poppin’ and used the bright cheery colours to influence my creations. Sometimes I let pattern papers lead the way with my creations so that is what I did today.

Instead of using the candles from the ‘Make A wish’ stampset inthe traditional sense I thought I would use it as a geometric design on a smaller white card stock panel with ink colours Party Dress, Cummerbund and Catching rays. I reckon you could create some cool boys cards with these stripe designs from the candles, dont you think? For me I am all about stretching my supplies. Dont get me wrong keep coming back to my blog as I have also created cards using the candles in the way it was intended. I just crated todays card the way it I felt at the time. For the Party die I also heat embossed the letters in Minty from the Pick me up Trios from WOW! Embossing Powder. (you know how I feel about heat embossing?) if not feel free to visit my youtube channel where I have tutorials up on more cardmaking. YouTube Channel

To finish the card off I used my all time stample of clear sequins ‘Crater Lake’. Done & dusted. My biggest tip when it comes to card making is ‘you do you’. Dont be afraid to find your style by colour combos, pattern paper, stampsets, dies, stencils, mediums whatever it is. Experiment and have fun. Keep the the feeling of joy as this comes through in your work.

This Collection is full of main image stamps that celebrate each stage of the process. They have added in lots of patterns, texture and geometric dies that tie it all together for a cool artsy vibe! So grab your stamps and inks and let’s do some Creative Thinking!⠀

AECP Educator Program | With a Twist Card Angel Card

Therese takes your favourite techniques and gives a twist! Get more out of your current products and think of different way to jazz up your paper crafting projects. Get new ideas and bring new purpose to your stamps, dies, and inks!

For my card I recreated the card base style where Therese partially angle card the card front. I love this style as it give such a cool and different look with just your paper trimmer.

The colour pallet I have chosen is a cool, minty collection from the Green Meadows quad ink pack. I stamped the leaves on the white card front and mounted that on a mint top folding card base. I heat embossed the largest of the floral cluster and arranged it so it partially peaked to the side of the card front.

I have created a tutorial on how I made the card.

AECP Educator Program | Beautiful Details

Learn different tips and techniques from Marika Rahtu on adding various details to your project to take it to the next level!

If you are looking for ways to use various mediums on your projects and maybe felt your projects may need a bit more of something? Then this class is perfect for you!

I have learned so much from Marika that I now look at my mediums differently. Even my ordinary black sharpies and pigments pen which I write with, I used for added dotted detail on today’s card.

Ill be honest with you here I had an enormous amount of gelli prints that created with Altenew stencils so I picked this Mega Bloom stencil from my stash that I thought would work great for this card. I placed the stencil back over the gelli print image and traced with my sharpie permanent ultra fine tip pen. I didn’t trace around each and every petal but I chose to trace one side only of each petals. I then added some dotted detail around the other side of the petals.

I also added thin black strips of black card stock on the corners of the card front.

Check out my youtube tutorial up on my channel.

I just couldn’t help myself and made another card this time adding dotted detail on the outer part of the watercoloured image. The below large image is from the ‘Courageous You’ which I heat embossed with WOW! Ebony powder on watercolour cardstock. I coloured the embossed image in with Karin Brush markers and an aqua pentel brush.

In addition to the beautiful details class I also got the idea to trim on an angle the card front as an added detail from the “With a Twist” clasess from Therese Calvird. Theresa’s class takes your favourite techniques and give a twist! She teaches you how to get more out of your current products and think of different way to jazz up your paper crafting projects.

So for this card I added the painted dots washi tape in the inner part of the cardbase so it peaks through the angled cut.
I also have another card for that class on my youtube coming shortly.

Take your favorite techniques and give a twist! Let’s get more out of your current products and think of different way to jazz up your paper crafting projects. Get new ideas and bring new purpose to your stamps, dies, and inks!

Altenew AECP – In the Mood | Orange – Health, Happiness, Courage

Instructor Stephanie Klauck teaches you all about your emotions and how it relates to colours. Feeling happy? excited? or blue? Learn how you can take your mood and apply it to your cards! In this class, you will learn various ways to add colors to your projects depending on your mood.

As part of my Altenew Educator Program I have not only loved learning all about colours but hot is also relates to emotions AND theories. I have learned so much as part of this online classes creative journey. I am so grateful for this opportunity and to the wonderful teachers that have taken the time to implement such credible classes.

Now on to my card creation…..

I kept it rather simple and applied the colour Orange with the Martian Terrain Inks. I added some interest by also heat embossing with clear embossing powder from WOW! Embossing Powder over the whole stamped image. For me, this card really spoke because of the sentiment which I felt related to the colour orange. I have so much gratitude for the crafting friends I have met along my journey and like to encourage them just like they have done for me along the way. My goal is not only to try new techniques as part of these classes but to really create with intent and most cases the recipient in mind.

I have made a youtube tutorial of my card creation for today.

Catherine Pooler | Gelli Prints Blessed Cover Plate

I have recently discovered Gelli Printing and have made lots of prints ready to make something out of them. The prints I have chosen today are more on the simpler side where I have played with straight out acrylic paints and added texture with some old bubble wrap. I got to the point where I had all these prints then asked the question NOW WHAT?!? In my head I wanted to create quick, simple and easy cards that could be mass produced. I chose the Catherine Pooler Peony in Bloom cover die from the “Blessed” release and die cut them in white and black card stock which I have placed on top of the prints. I found this cover die suited the prints so you can get a good peel of the prints still whilst adding a pretty floral element to the card front.

I have created a youtube tutorial on how I made this cardset. The sentiments are from Scrapbook.com – “Heartfelt Friendships

AECP | Polychromatic Cards

Hi all, I am super excited that I am learning so much from the Altenew Educator Program. The most recent course I have completed watching and partaking in is the Polychromatic course hosted by the very talented Nina-Marie Trapini.

Nina runs a thorough program playing with colours! This course will help you build confidence with colours or colour combos. In this class, you will learn how to use multi-colours comfortably! Use tips and tricks from this class to make your projects shine with various colours!

For my card set today I delved into my card stock stash and chose colours that were close to my Altenew Mini Ink pads I had in my collection.

I used the lighter shades of my inks and repeat stamped the floral image from Kind Matters stampset on a full 5 x 7 ” cardstock panel. Once I have done all my stamping I added some depth to the floral images with copic colours. I used copic colours R85, Y02, YG41, RV42 & B00. All these colours not only matched the ink colours but the cardstock with a slight darker shade to add depth. I cut the full panels down either in half portrait, landscape and diagonals and adhered these down on white side folding card base.

For the sentiments I die cut with white cardstock and pressed the ink pads to turn these into coloured sentiments. I added some sheen to the sentiments by spraying an array of Nuvo sprays that I had in my stash. I had some pre-cut die cut hearts in white and craft cardstock.

I also added some extra sparkle with pre-embossed panels. This is a handy tip that I do for convenience to have glitter cardstock on hand which I do reach for on a regular basis.

For the overall presentation of these cards I place all elements together changing up the designs which all have the panels, glitter cardstock, die cut sentiments and heart die cuts.

To watch my process of what I had learnt from this fabulous class I have created a tutorial up on my youtube channel.

Catherine Pooler dry embossed card

Hi all, today’s card is using the newish Quilter Cover die for the dry embossed technique. If you are new to the dry embossed technique, let me give you the down low on the how to. First of all you need a die cutting machine and of course a cover die (background die). The whole idea of the this technique is to achieve an “impression” type of look rather than using the die in a traditional sense for cutting. I have an electronic cutting machine and the biggest tip I can offer when it comes to the impression part of running the “sandwhich” through the machine is a ‘rubber mat’. Most cutting machines you can purchase a rubber mat that pairs well with your machine.

Sandwhich Key –
1. Cutting platform
2. Rubber Mat
3. Cardstock
4. Cover Die
5. Cardstock Shim
6. 1 x Cutting Plate

Depending on your machine you may need to add a couple of shims. Shims can vary in thickness and I highly recommend using cardstock as shims depending on the depth of impression you would like to achieve. Try and not add too many cardstock shims as to not make it too thick so you don’t cut through the actual cardstock itself.

For my card, I have mounted the dry embossed panel on a white top folding card base. As an added element to my card I have die cut a heart panel with the layered stitched dies with kraft cardstock. I love the kraft cardstock can bring a natural looking element to add to the floral stamp design. The floral stamp design has been heat embossed with WOW! Embossing Powder in Ebony and water coloured in with Catherine Pooler Inks and water colour pencils.

To finish the card off I added some crater lake clear sequins to embellish the card.

CASE Your Fellow AECP Crafter Hop

Hi all, today I am playing part of a special blog hop with a fabulous group of very talented crafters from the Altenew Educator Certification Program. This group has a special place in my heart as I embark on my crafting journey to find my authentic style. For something different we are all playing along and have been matched up to crafters to CASE each other. CASE means Copy And Share Everything
but it can be interpreted in many ways. I am very lucky to have been given the talented Yasmine Magdy Sadek. I chose the below picture of hers to CASE

I am the last person in the hop so just in case you have missed it I have link back to the top of the hop list where it all started thanks to the amazing coordiantor of this hop Natasha Davies. https://youtu.be/O1WQDqugvME

My stampset of choice today is from the Kindness Reminders. I really enjoyed watercolour this image in. I have been practicing using a ‘new to me’ which are the product the Watercolour Brush Markers. Can I just say WOWzers these babies are PIGMENTED. Not even joking. To practice my control of distributing the ink I had 2 clean water aqua brushes handy as well as a microfibre cloth (paper towel is another option). I have created a youtube of my cardmaking process on today’s card.

Best Things in Life Floral Set

The For Your Crew Collection consists of four bundles of products (available for purchase separately, but they coordinate perfectly for fabulous hand made creations!) that each speak to a different type of friend or family member in your life. You’ll find just the “just right” stamps and sentiments for everyone you make cards for! From your Party Crew to your Posh Crew and even your Hip and Preppy Crew, these stamps, dies and accessories cover it all from the classy to belly laugh friends.

Today, I have used the The Best Things in Life stampset from the Posh Crew release. Its such a beautiful floral image and love that it comes with coordinating dies.

I heat embossed the floral images on ranger watercolour cardstock with WOW! Embossing Powder ebony powder. I coloured the images in with both the ink pads and altenew brush markers. Once the watercolour images are dried completely I added some extra dotted detail then die cut the images with coordinating dies.

For the Ink blended panels I very lightly inked up diagonal edges up with the new CP Date Night Inks Puckered Up, In the Park, Catching Rays and Chiffon inks.

I mounted the images on an older die set “Merry Labels”. I love that these labels have an embossed feature around the edges. For the sentiment I used the “One Liners” stampset. I have to say this has been a staple in my collection.

Catherine Pooler Designs | Date Night Inks

Catherine Pooler Designs have launched a brand new ink collection that is just absolutely beautiful. This collection is called “Date Night” all the names of the inks have a special meaning that is related to the collections name.

For the first card, I have blended Pucker Up, Serenade & Drive In with ink blending tools. My tip when it comes to ink blending is not only using good blending tools that suit your you and your blending style but to practice ink blending to master working with a light touch and working your your way to add pressure to increase colour depth and intensity. PLUS it also helps having amazing inks to blend with 😜 Oh it also helps to have smooth cardstock like the Catherine Pooler white cardstock. Never forget about the cardstock!

I have die cut the Savannah Cover plate die which I then mounted on the ink blended panel. The panel is a perfect design to show case the ink blended panels to peek through. I have also stamped the Happy Butterflies with the Drive In ink then heat embossed with the NEW Halo Embossing Glitter. Can I just say MY MY MY this clear iridescent embossing glitter is absolutely beautiful.

I wanted to show case in my cards how well not only do these inks blend but how well they actually go together as well. I have created 2 cards with the below card I have used Chiffon, Catching Rays and DO-SI-DO inks. I have heat embossed with Gold Rich embossing powder for the butterfly on vellum.

Both sentiments have been heat embossed on the left over panels of the ink blended panel with Opaque Bright White embossing powder. My tip for heat embossing sentiments is to use a super fine version of the powder to capture the fine details of any sentiments or stamped images.

I hope you enjoy today’s card creation. Now also over on my instagram CPD is giving away 8 $25 Gift Cards this week- one for each new color!  https://www.instagram.com/joherbert/

Altenew Educator program | Creative Watercolour media card

Hello and welcome to my blogpost. As part of my Altenew Certification Program I have enrolled, I took the Creative Watercolour Media class by Jennifer Rzasa & Co. I played with the Watercolour 36 pan set which I have had in my stash and had a great excuse to play with it again. To ease into the class I started off with florals that I could colour in one petal at a time. As I am not particularly good at keeping my colouring in the lines I chose to heat emboss the image.

I first heat embossed both floral images with Ebony embossing powder and watercoloured in using the pan set. My biggest tip that I have learnt is have clean water and a clean brush handy. I love having two brushes to work with, 1 brush to pick up the pigment paint up and 1 to help distribute the paint throughout each petal. I have created a tutorial up on my youtube channel of my creative process.

There is a lot to learn when it comes to watercolouring and bot oh boy I am loving this class. I am yet to complete it but I just could help but pick up a brush and start colouring. I have to say the watercolour bug has bit me hard 😃

The colour inspiration was from the January monthly card challange.

A Touch of Winter for January’s 2021 Inspiration Challenge

In my card I also showcase a cool pearl embossing powder that changes colour when it is heat set.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog. Have a lovely day!

Catherine Pooler Designs | Heart Trio Slimline Die

Hi all, welcome to today’s card design where I am using the new Heart Trio slimline die from the latest Love N Hearts release.

There are some super cute and fun collections in this release. See some pictures below.

I have used some scrap pieces of cardstock and adhered them down on an angle behind the 1st layer of the heart trio die cut. With the In the Park ink I blended with a blending brush just around the edges and adhere down with liquid adhesive directly to the slim line card base. For the top layer I foam mounted it over the top.

I stamped with the Versafine Onyx black ink the smallest floral image from the Grace in Bloom stampset and coordinating dies. I used my Dove blender pen to pick up the Do-Si-Do ink, In the Park, Chiffon ink to colour in the floral images.

Stamp the sentiments on a strip of white cardstock with versafine onyx black ink and adhere down.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card creation with the New Release items.

Altenew Certification Program – Layering Stamps

Hi All, welcome to my very first blog post as a participant of the the Altenew Certification Program.

A little about why I joined the program….. first of all for those that know me well I like to be behind the scenes when it comes to creating. This may shock some of you but I have a lot of fears about my crafting abilities. I love crafting but I have a OCD personality when it comes to presenting my final crafting pieces. What I want to achieve with this course is to push myself with techniques, styling and especially my confidence for 2021.

So here it goes my first post…
This post is all about stamp layering. Altenew offer a great range of layering stamps (which I had already purchased but used sparingly). Having said that I was always not confident in not aligning these stamps correctly ….even though they provided samples and images on what to look out for as far positioning goes, I still felt like I was doubtful in my capabilities in getting it right the first time. Once I took that negative chatter out of my thinking I was able to create more with ease and pleasure. It took me until my second creation to enjoy the process.

What I do recommend from what I learnt in the Layering courses, is using a stamp positioner like the MISTI or following Nicole’s informational step by step instructions. If you want to master all things layering she is the Queen!

Class Link – HERE

Have all of these wonderful layering stamp sets, but not sure how to use them? Do you want to be more creative with those layers and make something amazing? In this class, you will learn how to use Altenew’s layering stamp sets and line those images up easily and perfectly! Our leading instructor Nicole Picadura will walk you through in detailed videos so you can tackle those layering stamp sets with a snap of a finger! Also, each lesson will share different ideas to create projects using stamp sets.

Instructor: Nicole Picadura

Here is my first ever card, practicing my layering process. Let me be honest I started in going in very strong as I was over enthusiastic, wanted to share everything I learnt, stamp everything out perfectly and over embellish. What I learnt from my first card is that clean and simple is best, enjoy the process and bring it back to basics. The stamps itself add quite a punch and there is no need to over do it. Also another thing I learn shake up your glitter brushes well and don’t squeeze while adding the detail to dye inks and not add a big fat blob in the centre of the flowers.

My stampset of choice for today’s card I have used Fabulous Florets this stampset is what I would class has medium size images which made for good practice. I have to say the MISTI came in handy for not only the stamping and placement but for also my mini ink pads. As this image has a solid image which is is bigger than my mini ink pad the impression on pressing my mini ink pad to the image can sometimes leave the size of the ink pad marks. To remedy this I press and twist/swipe ever so slightly and stamp and repeat the process at least a couple of times to get a good coverage and overall stamped solid image. I then go ahead and stamp and align the rest of the floral image and hand cut out. There are matching dies available for this floral stampset however I did not have them on hand so I proceeded to hand cut them all out. This included the leaves as well.

The front card base has been dry embossed with the Angled Mosaic 3D folder and adhere down with liquid adhesive to allow for wiggle room. The reason why I chose a 3D embossing folder is to add a subtle white on white texture.

For the sentiment, I have used the Birthday Builder sentiments which I have stamped in Desert Night ink on a half inch strip white cardstock which I have foam mounted on to give it dimension. To finish the card off I have used clear sequins and adhered these down. I have to be honest here I am still working on the placement of sequins on my card creations. Sometimes there are days where I feel like a nailed it and there are some I know I over did it. Do you have the same issue?

For the next card I know what I need to work on. Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to show casing what I learn next.

Till next week,
Jo

Beautiful New Year! Catherine Pooler New Release

Written Tutorial

For today’s card design I went for a more bold design. I used black and white card stock layers, ink and embossing powder. I wanted the colouring to stand out against the black and white which I think I achieved?

I heat embossed the Beautiful Day floral image with WOW! Embossing Powder Ebony in superfine detail to capture the design. I watercoloured the image in with inks and Watercolour makers.

For the sentiment I die cut black and white card stock with the Wishes dies and for the add on sentiment I stamped with the coordinating All round wishes stampset.

To finish the card off I used the crater lake sequins. If you didn’t already know I use these sequins alot for card creations as they have the sequins with and with the hole in centre of them.

This is all part of the new BEAUTIFUL NEW YEAR collection.

Beautiful New Year! Catherine Pooler New Release

Hi Everyone and welcome to another fabulous New Release from Catherine Pooler Designs.

BEAUTIFUL NEW YEAR is a must see…. Available December 9th!!
For todays card, I played with a slimline card base. I have tried something new where I place my own touch by hand drawing onto my card creation. I am still getting use to the larger longer real estate space of a slimline card layout.
The floral arrangement is from the Beautiful Day stampset which also comes with a coordinating die.

Written Tutorial –

I have been loving this gorgeous floral Beautiful Day stampset so much. I have heat embossed the image with gold embossing powder on watercolour cardstock. To colour these in I have used watercolour makers from Uniquely Creative and an aqua pentel brush to help with the blending and watercolouring. As this stampset comes with coordinating dies I have die cut this out and foam adhere down on an already ink blended panel.

I have previously shared a youtube tutorial on how I ink blend panels and add depth with Black Jack Ink. For todays card I heat embossed the sentiment over the top of the panel with Opaque Bright White. I finished the card off with Crater Lake sequins.

Just in case you missed it….. youtube tutorial below

The floral arrangement is from the Beautiful Day stampset which also comes with a coordinating die.

Written Tutorial –

I have heat embossed the floral arrangement with the new WOW! Embossing Powder Judith’s Blush on watercolour cardstock. I used the an aqua brush to pick up colour from the ink pad lids and coloured away. Even though the Catherine Pooler Inks are dye inks as I have used watercolour cardstock it gave me the wiggle room colouring time to blend. I added some extra detail with Zig Markers over the top of the image. This was place with foam adhesive towards the top centre.

To fill in the space towards the bottom I have used the new Sincere Thanks stampset and stamped it three times in different ink colours.

I felt like the space was a bit too sparse and needed some ooompf (you know what I mean right?). To remedy this I used my Copic Multi liner to free hand draw the lines and add some dotted detail in the corners. I finished the card off with crater lake sequins and thats it.

Tell me have you done any hand drawings on your paper craft creations? Also what was your favourite set from the new release? I have more more projects to share with you over the next couple of days.

Thanks for stopping by and I am looking forward to reading your comments.

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by and visiting me today. Today I am show casing a couple of cards from the new Catherine Pooler “One Plus One” release.

Catherine Pooler New Release | One Plus One | His and Hers Stampset

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by and visiting me today. Today I am show-casing a couple of cards from the new Catherine Pooler “One Plus One” release. The stampset used is the brand new “His & Hers” Stampset along with the new Polka Dot cover plate background die.

The above card I created a panel where I heat embossed the sentiment with WOW! Embossing Powder Metallic Rich Gold Powder on white cardstock. I stamped both images in Rouge & Midnight Inks and to finish the panel off I matted it on black cardstock.

I kept the rest of the card rather simple adhering down a die cut polka dot piece on a side folding card base.

For the above card I created my own background by alternate stamping both glasses with Rouge and Aquatini Inks on white cardstock which I have mounted on a black mat panel.
I have stamped the sentiment with Midnight Ink on a square piece of white cardstock and matted on black cardstock. To finish the card off I added a heart shaped die cut from kraft.
Hope you enjoyed today’s card creation.

Papercrafters Unite Against Racism Blog Hop

Hi all, thank you for stopping by. I feel very honored to be very part of this very special hop. The goal of this hop is to come together to stand behind our crafty sisters and brothers of colour not just in the art industry, but also to show our support in the never-ending fight for equality all over the world.

All details of this hop and the line up of sponsors are up on Justine Hovey’s Blog .

As this is a hop don’t forget to visit your next hopper – Nandini Karmarkar.

For my first two card creations I bought digital stamps from Angie Bloom Digital Designs and Graciellie Designs to support small business that convey important messages with gorgeous designs. I felt both companies offered an array of images and sentiments that were fitting for today’s hop.

The first two cards I have incorporated an array of ink blended panels with Catherine Pooler inks and sprinkles of WOW! Embossing Powder Ultra High powders.

To see how have created these cards you can watch my tutorial up on my youtube channel.

The next card below has been inspired from my home country Australia where I reside. I first want to start of by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the lands on which I reside today and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

I have carefully chosen the stamps from Hero Arts as the images reminded of the indigenous illustrations from the local Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders people here in Australia. The tones are a reflection of the earth as the indigenous use the land of natural tones, colours and earth materials to make their colours with.
