Catherine Pooler Designs ‘This Christmas’ Release – Adorning Doves Shaker Card

Can I just say I love love love this release. There is something magical about christmas right? It is my most favourite time of year. I would start setting up now if my family didn’t want me to forget about their birthdays along the way (hehe)

Today, I have played with pinks, I know I know its not traditional Christmas colours, however let me tell you I was exploring with non traditional colours with this release. Between you and me I love doing this most years so by the time I am mass producing with the traditional colours I haven’t felt like I have over done it with the green, red white colours combo. It’s my way to keeping me engaged in my hobby.

So let me get started with my card shall I? I am a big fan of the crater lake sequins. It sits on my desk as a go to. It had been a while since I made a shaker card so I wanted to make something easy, interactive and a little on the pretty side.

To show you my process I have created a youtube tutorial on my process. You actually see how I wasn’t happy with how the card started and by adding the inner layer of the shaker component made my heart sing.

I couldn’t help myself….. I did use my ‘Cocktail Party’ Trios with WOW! Embossing Powder. Amongst using my all tiem favourite Metallic Gold Rich I paired it with my Made You Blush embossing glitter.

My favourite tip when it comes playing with new embossing powders & glitters to make a whole embossed 5 x 7 inch panel. This way I get to see the colour in all its glory. It is then ready for me to die cut or cut down into strips and any other elements. If you haven’t watched me over on my channel yet, you see me show casing this tip frequently. I am all about time saving when it comes to crafting as sometimes all I want to do it colour, focus on stamping or even ink blending. Wht is your favourite crafting hack.

Catherine Pooler – Jolly Holiday Slimline card

Hi All, I have been absolutely been loving the new Jolly Holiday release and particularly how lovely the Jolly Trees stampset. This stampset has been so versatile and awesome for layering ink colours. For today I have done a quick and simple card of straight stamping with Eucalyptus and Green Tea ink. For the Christmas centre tree I have heat embossed with Metallic Rich Gold embossing powder and die cut out and placed on Cranberry Fizz ink panel and cut closely around to foam mount on.

I place and stamped the trees on the bottom of the slimline panel. Cut a panel of pattern paper and mount on a Cranberry Fizz ink blended panel. Die cut the new Merry Christmas word die three times. Press the top word die into the cranberry ink and adhere all down on the pattern paper strip.

Place the whole card panel on a navy slimline card panel.

Now onto my card creations. Today, I have made 3 cards using a variation of WOW! Embossing Powder products – Sparkles, Embossing Glitters and straight-up super fine powders.  I have used the same stampset from Gerda Steiner Designs – Carol Puppies Stampset and watercoloured them in with the Altenew paint pan pallet.

I first stamped the images using my MISTI with Versafine Onyx black ink which I then watercoloured the images in. I set aside to dry then I restamped the image over the top of the watercolour images to get a good crisp black image over the top.

Card 1 - Jo

For the first card I used Coconut Ice embossing glitter on the die-cut diagonal frame by pressing the clear ultra slow drying ink direct on the diecut. It is hard to capture the embossing glitter in a photo but it really makes for a fabulous die glitter cardstock panel. The sentiment has been heat embossed with Angel Eyes from the Ferryman Trios set.

card 1a - Jocard 2 - Jo

Second card  I have heat embossed a scalloped circle die cut with Salsa embossing glitter. I have also roughly swiped  the pennant edge with ultra slow drying ink and poured neptune embossing glitter. Card 2a - Jo

For the last card I have used the Flamingo Sparkles and created my own paste with Texture Gloss paste. Using a plastic spatula I have mixed the sparkles and texture paste and spread it like butter over a poinsettia stencil. Card 3 - Jo

I hope you enjoyed today’s card creations for the hop.

WOW! Embossing Powder & A Jillian Vance Design Collaboration Blog Hop

Yay, it’s time for another blog hop.

WOW! Embossing Powder is collaborating with the beautiful A Jillian Vance Design   creative team.

It wouldn’t be a hop without PRIZES, right?

Both WOW! Embossing Powder and A Jillian Vance Design will be giving away a $25 Gift card each to our stores.

So there will be TWO winners!

This hop will run for a week only and the winners will be announced on Friday, October 28th. So, be sure to check back on WOW! Embossing Powder and A Jillian Vance Design blog then.

To be entered to win a prize all you need to do is leave a comment here and each of the designer’s blog posts PLUS on both WOW! Embossing Powder and A Jillian Vance Design. I have included the full line up list below.

But first here are a couple of my cards for the hop.

I tried to get a slightly muted mint ombre blending going on here. To do that I used Hickory Smoke distress oxide ink for the darkest layer.
Tip: if you don’t have all the colors in a collection I tend to add grey tones and some times a brown tone depending on the colour hues I am playing at the time.
For the first card I played with the Jingle all the Way stampset. and repeat heat embossed with Opaque Bright White embossing powder the jingle bells repeatedly to create my own background.
I tried to keep with the ombre theme with the sentiment as well by pressing the sentiment with the lightest ink first then working m way to the darkest and being really gentle with tapping on the ink working my way up the stamp.
For my second card, I have heat embossed a whole panel of the Vintage Peacock Embossing Glitter then die cut the Jingle Bells out. I did the same for the Gold Sparkle Embossing Glitter.
TIP: I usually heat emboss heaps of panels in a variety of colors ready to die-cut for future projects.
I delved into my hoard vault of papers and found this Teresa Collins Tinsel and Company paper. Do you guys do the same? I have a tone of paper in my hoard vault LOL

I have to say I have been having a ball playing with the Catherine Pooler Holidays release.
Today I am playing with the Angel Wings die and Merry Christmas Angel stampset in my first card set.

Now becuase today is a hop you most likely have come from Catherine Pooler Desgns Blog your next hop is to the very talented Daniel West.
I have a full list of the line up towards the end of my blog post for you all just in case you get lost in the hop.

Did I mention there are PRIZES for this collaborative hop?
Both Catherine Pooler Designs & WOW! Embossing Powder are each giving away a $25 gift card to their stores just by you leaving a comment on each of the designers blog posts. Each comment gets an entry to the hop so comment away so us some crafty kindness as we are super excited to read your comments along the way.

For the Angel wings dies card I have done some really light ink blending with some distress oxide inks.
The card on the left I have used Black soot and Hickory Smoke oxide inks and the card on the right I have used Tattered Rose and Spun Sugar. The key to get a smooth inkblending I have used the make up blending brushes. To get the glittery wings I have used Iced Silver & Aladdin Embossing Glitter.

These trio of cards I have masked the labels dies with some purple tape and heat embossed in selected sections. I found doing this technique really show cases the new Catherine Pooler Bundle Up Trios embossing powder really well. There is such a fabulous array of sparkly texture .
The above card I have used the Sage Embossing Glitter & below I have used Peppermint Scrub from the Bundle Up Trios – Inspired by Catherine Pooler.
Christmas Cards
Lastly but not the least the above card I used the Skylight Embossing Glitter.

Kat Scrappiness : Merry Critters Waterfall Card

Hi all, welcome to today’s blog post where I have made a waterfall card with the brand new Merry Critters stampset from Kat Scrappiness.

I have copic coloured each of  these little cuties in. My paper of choice is from Pinkfresh Oh Joy 6″ x 6″ pack.

The main mechanism is the waterfall rectangle. It measures 2″ x 8″ and scored at 2″, 2 1/2″, 3″ & 3 1/2″.

The anchor measures 3/4″ by 4 1/8″. My tip with the anchor is to only place really strong adhesive on the outer edge only.

Slip the longer part of the waterfall compinent behind the anchor. THis will be your pull down function.

Cut up 4 pieces of the 2″ x 2″ square in cardstock.  Adhere some pattern paper 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ on top of the cardstock. These panels are the square panels that need to be adhere straight on the ling rectangle pull mechanism.

I have made a quick process video for you all. Sit back get a cuppa and hop you enjoy today’s creation.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments and support everyone.

Hugs
