Catherine Pooler dry embossed card

Hi all, today’s card is using the newish Quilter Cover die for the dry embossed technique. If you are new to the dry embossed technique, let me give you the down low on the how to. First of all you need a die cutting machine and of course a cover die (background die). The whole idea of the this technique is to achieve an “impression” type of look rather than using the die in a traditional sense for cutting. I have an electronic cutting machine and the biggest tip I can offer when it comes to the impression part of running the “sandwhich” through the machine is a ‘rubber mat’. Most cutting machines you can purchase a rubber mat that pairs well with your machine.

Sandwhich Key –
1. Cutting platform
2. Rubber Mat
3. Cardstock
4. Cover Die
5. Cardstock Shim
6. 1 x Cutting Plate

Depending on your machine you may need to add a couple of shims. Shims can vary in thickness and I highly recommend using cardstock as shims depending on the depth of impression you would like to achieve. Try and not add too many cardstock shims as to not make it too thick so you don’t cut through the actual cardstock itself.

For my card, I have mounted the dry embossed panel on a white top folding card base. As an added element to my card I have die cut a heart panel with the layered stitched dies with kraft cardstock. I love the kraft cardstock can bring a natural looking element to add to the floral stamp design. The floral stamp design has been heat embossed with WOW! Embossing Powder in Ebony and water coloured in with Catherine Pooler Inks and water colour pencils.

To finish the card off I added some crater lake clear sequins to embellish the card.
